James Johnson (nominee for Board Position) James started with Intermountain Laboratory Services in 1990, working as a Phlebotomist at Utah Valley Regional Medical Center. James felt a strong connection to laboratory medicine, and the role the lab takes in patient care. James moved from Phlebotomy to Specimen Processing, and worked in the front end service area of the lab until he received my degree in 1996. In 1996, it was hard to find a Medical Technology job at Intermountain, so he took a job at Myriad Genetics working on BRAC 1 and 2 mutation detection. James really missed being in a hospital setting, so in 1998 he started at LDS Hospital as a Bench Tech. After three years, he moved into the Afternoon Supervisor position. In 2006, he was instrumental helping ensure a successful opening of the Intermountain Central Lab, working with other key players to smoothly transition the Specimen Processing department.
